Millers Ale House - Tigers VS Twins

Another week of anesthesia school down:) We all decided we needed to get to know one another a little better so I got a small crew of students to all meet up at Millers Ale House after class. It was no coincidence that they had cheap beer buckets, the Tigers on the tube, and had a really good prime rib special - I do my homework! We sat out on the patio which almost killed all of us with temps still in the 90's and super humidity, but we made the best of it...too bad the Tigers lost:(

Ben braving the heat on the patio of Millers to watch the Tigers!

Miller Lite Beer Bucket...$5.95/bucket

Katy & Stacy - they both sit in front of me usually in class :)
Katy is from Tennessee and Stacy is from Ohio.

FANA Conference

October 2nd - 4th we attended our first anesthesia conference put on by the Florida Association of Nurse Anesthetists (FANA). It was held in Orlando, FL right in downtown Disney. We had a great time meeting students from all over Florida and also getting to know our Wolford classmates a little better.

Ben & I out to dinner at "The Outback" restaurant inside the hotel.

Butter Gators:)

Pumpkin Cheesecake, delish!

The last look before it was devoured.

Wolford students proving their attendence at the conference:)

Oddly enough, the UofM booster club always rents out the bar in the hotel we were staying at for all Michigan football games, so we stumbled upon all these great Go Blue fans during a quick break from the conference to check the score - this was right after Michigan tied up the game!!

And there happened to be a man selling Alumni shirts...couldn't pass that up...wore it back to the conference after halftime!

Representin' in the South baby!

We snuck back down to catch the end of the game, the ESPN updates to my phone weren't enough, our team needed us in front of the TV:)

...And then there were those of us who supported the team all through the day:)
Minus the State Guy, booooooo!

Tom, Ben & I...disappointed after a loss to MSU.

Michiganders Me, Becky, Ben

A little guitar hero post game helped cheer Tom & Ben up.

Doin a little dance, woo-hoo!

Day 1 outfit - done.

An anesthesia group funded a cocktail & hors devours get together for all the students, hmm free cocktails apparently means double fisting drinks:)

1st Day of Anesthesia School

School has finally begun! We had our orientation on September 28th, we went over our student handbook, met the faculty, and all the students introduced themselves. There are 55 people in my class! Everyone seems great, many of the students are married and have children so I have no excuse for not getting my work done:) Tuesday was our first day of actual courses, and it made me realize how "out of school shape" I am, I was tired, irritable, and could barely think after all that information overload. We will definitely be studying very hard for the next 28 months ahead:)

Ben looking very GQ on the first day:)

Last minute outfit change...too hot for a suit.

New friends Ida, Me, Celine, Jordan ...they were all very excited that I brought my camera.

Celine & Ida

Ben & Michael (we all worked together at UofM-small world)

We had to have molds of our ears made for a special earpiece, called a precordial stethoscope to better hear heart and lung sounds...

Ben & Mike waiting for their ear molds to set.

Jordan getting her ear canal sealed off

Ida too

Me next!

Ahhhh..."I hate my ears, I hate my ears"

Looking very cool with goo in my ear

Curriculum for the 2nd year & 4 months

Current Class Schedule til mid January 2010

All the books we'll be hitting so hard...we picked up about 70lbs of books for school, but this is all we'll need for the program.

We hit the ground running this week and are already off to our first anesthesia conference this Friday through Sunday in Orlando, FL. Its the being held by FANA (Florida Association of Nurse Anesthetists). Stay tuned for more pics to come... :)
